Denim jackets
It's baaack! And with a bang! Ok! You probably will argue that denim jackets never really went out of style. And I couldn't agree more; but this time around (unlike during our high school and college years when we used to throw one on for comfort sake), we are jazzing it up grown ladies style. What a I love about a good old denim jacket is its flexibility. Worn over a cute flowery dress or paired with casual pants, you can't go wrong! I hadn't worn mine since college which was 5-6 years ago. Luckily, although I have packed on a few pounds, it still fits. And yours probably does as well if not, fear not. Stores across the nation are carrying this American classic in all price range. No more excuses!
If I may, my advice is to avoid denim on denim! AT ALL COSTS!

Franges par ci et par là !
Il y'a quelques semaines, j'ai eu un véritable coup de coeur pour des sacs à frange de chez Zara. Depuis lors, j' ai été véritablement colonisée par ce style d'inspiration indienne. Je capote sur tout ce qui est à frange : des chaussures en passant par les foulards, et pour finir les bijoux. A défaut de vous montrer les fameux sacs, voici une selection d'accesoires frangés.

Color explosion
Neon pink, acid yellow, fluorescent green (are you blinking yet?)....have we gone back to the 80's or am I having flashbacks again? Or should I say trendback? Although neon bright colors is a bold and fun trend, I have to admit that it is a bit much for the shy girl I occasionally am (it happens once in a blue moon) and am finding it hard to embrace. Celebrities such as designer Alexis Phifer, singer Ashanti or even Nicky Hilton are apparently loving the trend; each one adding a bright touch to her outfit. I hope I won't eat my words in a near future but this trend gets a hell-to-the-no from me. Besides the pink, I don't see myself wearing any of the other colors and if you see me strolling around Montréal in them, feel free to remind me of this post.
If you must, please pair them with neutrals!
Designer Marc Jacobs now offers his infamous stam bag in neon hues and not to be outdone in terms of color, Italian designer Giambattista Valli created the Victoria Shoe in honor of Victoria Beckham (worn in the picture above by Rihanna).

Bamboo hoops : a big comeback to the 80's
Best known to be the it accessory of the 80's, Bamboo hoops are again very popular and trendy. Those big earrings-usually gold and called door knockers earrings -originated from the African-American youth in the Bronx (New york). They became one of the symbols of old school hip hop style. But, nowdays, hip hop fashionistas are not the only ones wearing them, they are coveted by everybody: from the girl next door to celebrities like Hilary Duff, Fergie, JLo and Rihanna, to name a few. I bought a pair two weeks ago at Arden b., and have been wearing them everyday. Those earrings can be worn with anything at anytime : from casual to a more refined look.

Pochettes XL

J'ai commencé à aimer les pochettes extra larges en regardant Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw et Samantha Jones, les deux fashionnistas de cette série à succès portaient souvent ces sacs qui ajoutaient la touche parfaite à leur look ultra sophistiqué. Depuis lors, j'en raffole!!! La pochette XL est en fait le sac le plus versatile qu' il soit. De forme rectangulaire, elle est assez grande pour être portée le jour, et assez petite pour les virées nocturnes. Bien que certaines la trouvent peu pratique,car difficile à tenir, la pochette XL est l' accessoire à mettre ces jours où on veut être chic ou ajouter une p'tite touche vintage à notre outfit sans pour autant trop se casser la tête.

- Thou shalt invest in a few quality pieces
- Thou shalt own at least one pair of black opaque tights
- Thou shalt not shy away from colors (if self-conscious, try subtle colors such as chocolate brown or ruby red and opt for control top tights. You can also wear a longer dress or skirt or wear a pair of mid-calf or knee high boots to minimize the effect)
- Thou shalt-always-gently pull them up your legs not pull or jerk them
- Thou shalt hand wash your tights

The patent mania by L.
I was shopping for a new purse two weeks ago and realized that most handbags were in this glossy-shiny finish. Apparently, the patent material is still in this season. If last summer was all about patent shoes (pumps and flats), this fall it's all about handbags and other accessories like watches. I'm not a big fan of patent leather, but what I like about this material is that it requires low maintenance: just a touch of a wet sponge is enough to make your accessories brand new. The big problem however is that it's difficult to wear more than one item of this flashy finish, like wearing patent shoes and a patent handbag at the same time is definitely too matchy- matchy for me!

Will you bow to this trend? by F.
Bows are everywhere and can be sometimes difficult to rock. My summer was all about bows and I hope to carry it into the new season without a hitch.
